Arts for All: Arts and….
The nonprofit arts organization plays an important role in communities. From Arts Education to Arts and Wellness, or Community Arts to Arts Entrepreneurship; these are just some of the many roles the arts play in communities today. Still questions about arts value – intrinsic and instrumental –arise from those who are not involved in the arts. Questions like: What are the arts? Who is involved in the arts? How are arts’ benefits and values articulated? The trend to move the arts toward “arts and…” arguments, yoking measurable social goods to art, is not likely to go away soon so long as the role for the arts continues to evolve amid economic, political and social realities.
This session is for nonprofit arts leaders, but all nonprofit leaders can benefit from exploring arts’ synergistic capacities. Attendees will learn about some of the “arts and…” programs from the SC Arts Commission, and engage in discussions about potential opportunities residing in the “arts-and” trend. Collectively, attendees will work together to surface compelling values arguments for the arts/”arts and…”, which can be useful for catalyzing meaningful collaborations and enjoining the arts to positive social outcomes.
