Joy Young joined the SC Arts Commission (SCAC) over decade ago, and since then her responsibilities have expanded to cover both programmatic and administrative areas of the agency. Joy leads programs related to Arts Entrepreneurship, Leadership & Organizational Development, Cultural Tourism, and Performing Arts & Presenting. As a member of the agency management team, her areas of responsibility include Finance and Human Resources.
Just prior to working at SCAC, Joy was the Director of Training and Technical Assistance with the SC Association of Nonprofit Organizations -SCANPO (presently, Together SC). She has also served as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow with Communities in Schools Inc., SC and a Master Trainer with CIS, Inc. National.
In addition to education in Arts Administration, along with training in Nonprofit Governance, Executive Transition/Succession Planning, Risk Management, and Mediation, Joy holds certification in Human Resources/Employee Law Relations, Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College, voice performance training from Manhattan School of Music, Master of Arts from City University of New York, and extensive post-graduate education in organizational leadership. She is honored to serve the community through her unique combination of knowledge and skills.
