Biography

Originally from Columbia South Carolina, John F. Castile is the Executive Director for the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority (GCRA). GCRA provides the opportunity for residents of Greenville County to achieve the American Dream through affordable housing opportunities and community revitalizations. Through partnerships, GCRA administers funds from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD for the five municipalities and the unincorporated areas of Greenville County.

Prior to serving at GCRA, John served as the City Manager for the City of Greenville from 2010 to June 2018. Under policy direction of Greenville City Council, he was chief executive officer for all municipal departments and operations responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the proper and responsible management of all city operations, resources, and services. He supervised the work of nine city operational department managers. (Human Resources, Office of Budget and Management, Police, Fire, Economic and Community Development, Public Works, Transportation, Parks and Recreation, and Public Information and Events) Mr. Castile developed and administered the City’s annual budget is in excess of $190 million which is supported by more than 1,000 full-time and part-time employees.
