Salad versus Soup: Understanding the Difference between Diversity and Inclusion
We often hear diversity and inclusion being used interchangeably. However, the two are not the same. Verna Myers stated, “Diversity is being invited to the party; Inclusion is being asked to dance.” This session will emphasize the importance of empathy and seeking to better understand yourself, the people you work, and the people you serve in hopes of further driving solutions, results and impact.
Session takeaways:
- We are better together. Community and inclusion drives change within our society.
- The more we understand ourselves and others, the more impact we can have.
- We don’t have to all be alike; however, how can we more intentionally accept and embrace those differences?
