Biography

Tom Keith is the President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, a $116 Million dollar grant-making Foundation in Columbia, SC.

Tom has served as president of the Foundation since March of 1996. As president, he oversees the Foundation’s operations and assists the Board of Trustees in setting policies and goals. Tom establishes partnerships and coalitions with organizations and community groups across South Carolina, and his leadership has grown the Foundation into a major philanthropic force in South Carolina.

He has more than 40 years of experience in nonprofit management in five states. Currently, Tom serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Columbia College. He also serves on the Board of the Columbia Free Medical Clinic, SC Center for Fathers and Families and Healthy Learner’s. He has been an active member of the Southeastern Council of Foundations since 2000, and he served on the Board of Directors from 2004-2010.

He is a founding member and former chairman of the South Carolina Grantmakers Network, a group of 40 grant-making foundations from across the state. In 2004, Tom received the Healthy Learners “In All Things Charity” award, and was appointed to serve on the South Carolina Access to Justice Commission in 2007.

He was inducted into the Winthrop University College of Business Pinnacle Society in 2008 and earned the Clemson University Institute for Family and Neighborhood Life Leadership Award in 2009. Tom also was recognized as one of the Palmetto State Fatherhood Honorees, by the Global Partners Network in 2016.

Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Marshall University, and he has a master’s in business administration from Winthrop University. He and his family live in Irmo, SC.
